Two Hope College volleyball players have been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Players of the Week for matches played through November 2.

Senior Amy VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS), is the MIAA Player of the Week, while junior Allie Mitchell of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Eastern HS), is the MIAA’s Specialty Player of Week.

VanderStoep totaled 17 kills for a hitting percentage of .364 and added six blocks as the Flying Dutch won two matches to clinch a share of the MIAA championship. She had 11 kills in a sweep of Kalamazoo and six kills and four blocks in a sweep of Saint Mary’s.

VanderStoep is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

Mitchell had 25 digs for the week in helping the Flying Dutch secure a share of the MIAA championship with two conference wins. She had 16 digs and two service aces in a sweep of Saint Mary’s.

Hope returns to action on Friday, November 6, when the second-ranked Flying Dutch host Alma in the semifinals of the MIAA Tournament. Start time is 7:30 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse.
