The Hope College softball team has been selected to play in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the sixth time in school history.

The Flying Dutch received an at-large berth on Monday and are headed to the Lake Forest, Illinois, regional. Game dates and times are to be announced, but will be held later this week.

Hope (27-9 overall) will play in the first round Wisconsin-Whitewater (36-7), champions of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Host and Midwest Conference champion Lake Forest (31-8) faces North Central, Illinois (31-7) from the College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin in the other first-round game. It is a double-elimination tournament.

The regional winner advances to May 15-16 Super Regionals at sites to be determined. The national finals are May 21-26 in Salem, Virginia.

Hope is one of 62 teams to comprise the field. The Flying Dutch were among 18 teams to receive Pool C at-large bids.

Hope’s previous NCAA Tournament appearances came in 2006, 1996, 1995, 1992 and 1991.
