Hope College setter Lauren Hazekamp has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Specialty Player of the Week for games played through September 26.
The senior from Fruitport, Michigan (Fruitport HS), led No. 14 Hope to a 4-0 record last week with three double-double performances.
Hazekamp began the week with 57 assists in a 3-1 win versus Adrian. She followed that up with 39 assists and 13 digs two days later against Saint Mary’s.
In a doubleheader on Saturday, Hazekamp posted 24 assists and 14 digs against Kalamazoo and later made 32 helpers and defended 18 balls against Heidelberg, Ohio.
This is the fifth time in her career Hazekamp has been honored by the MIAA.
