Hope College safety Colin Kelly has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week for games played on Saturday, September 12.
The senior from Troy, Michigan (Shrine Catholic HS), led the Flying Dutchmen defense with a team-high seven solo tackles and six assisted tackles during a 13-7 loss at Elmhurst, Illinois on Saturday. He also posted a tackle for loss of five yards.
This is the first time in his career Kelly has received MIAA weekly honors.
The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Saturday, Sept. 19, when they host Concordia, Wisconsin in the MIAA-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Challenge series. Kickoff is 1 p.m. at Smith Stadium.
