Hope College volleyball player Allie Mitchell has been chosen the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Specialty Player of the Week for matches played through October 10.
The senior libero from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Eastern HS), is being recognized for the first time this season and the second time in her career.
Mitchell helped the No. 14-ranked Flying Dutch record a trio of 3-0 conference triumphs last week. She finished the week with a passing average of 2.26 on a 0-3 scale. She totaled double-digit digs twice during the week, accumulating 19 against Olivet on Tuesday and 18 versus Albion on Friday.
Mitchell totaled 45 digs, 13 assists and six service aces during the week, including three service aces at Alma on Saturday.
Hope returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14. The Flying Dutch host Calvin for a 6 p.m. match at DeVos Fieldhouse.
