Hope College’s Dante Hawkins has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played through December 25.

The junior guard from Holland, Michigan (Holland HS) is receiving the honor for the first time in his career after leading the Flying Dutchmen to a 2-0 record at their Holland Sentinel/Russ DeVette Classic last week.

Hawkins claimed Tournament Most Valuable Player honors while averaging 21.5 points, 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game and shooting 78.3 percent from the field (18-of-23).

Hawkins scored a game-high 23 points against Spalding, Kentucky on 9-of-10 shooting from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range.

Against Johnson & Wales, R.I., Hawkins recorded a career-high 10 assists to go along with 20 points. He came within one assist of the DeVos Fieldhouse record.
