Hope College’s Nicholas Salomon has been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets through February 21.

The junior from Troy, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit HS) is honored for the first time in his career following his performance at the Grand Valley State University Tune-Up Meet on Saturday in Allendale.

Salomon posted the top performance for a Division III competitor in the 800 meters en route to an eighth-place time of 1 minute, 56.18 seconds.

The meet featured competitors from NCAA Division III, II and I teams as well as unattached ones.

Salomon also ran the third leg in a 4x400 relay that placed third behind an unattached relay and Grand Valley’s. Salomon teamed with sophomore Matt Ruff of Wayne, Illinois (Wheaton Academy), freshman Prescott Binder of Zeeland, Michigan (Zeeland East HS) and junior Richard Medina of Bensenville, Indiana (Timothy Christian HS) for a run of 3:28.42.

Hope’s next meet is Saturday, Feb. 27 at the inaugural MIAA Indoor Championships at Trine.
