Hope College’s Mike Miklusicak and Logan Shadaia have been selected Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Football Players of the Week for games played on October 29.

Miklusicak is the Offensive Player of the Week, while Shadaia is the Special Teams Player of the Week after the two helped the Flying Dutchmen beat Kalamazoo 31-6 on Saturday at Smith Stadium. Hope’s victory over Kalamazoo returned the Wooden Shoes traveling trophy back to Hope after a two-year absence.

Miklusicak rushed for a game-high 166 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries. The junior from Wayland, Michigan (Wayland HS) scored on touchdown runs of 6, 14 and 55 yards to spark 31 unanswered points for Hope. He also averaged 27.5 yards on two kick returns.

Shadaia blocked one punt that set up a field goal for the Flying Dutchmen. The sophomore from Oakland, Michigan (Lake Orion HS) also tipped two other Kalamazoo punts.

Both Miklusicak and Shadaia are first-time honorees.
