Hope College’s Natalie Curry and Molly Miedema have been chosen Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Players of the Week for their play during last week’s league tournament.

Curry, a senior from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville Calvin Christian HS), is the Offensive Player of the Week, while Miedema, a senior from Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake) is the Defensive Player of the Week.

Curry scored a first-half goal in a 4-2 victory against Alma in the MIAA Tournament title match at Van Andel Soccer Stadium. She provided leadership in the attack, helping distribute and provide direct runs, Hope coach Leigh Sears said.

Curry also totaled two shots on goal in a 4-0 semifinal win against Calvin.

Miedema was a key factor in holding Alma without a shot or a corner kick during the second half. The Flying Dutch outscored the Scots 2-0 after halftime to pull out the victory and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Miedema also aided Hope’s semifinal shutout of the Knights.

This is the first MIAA Player of the Week honors for both players.
