Three Hope College volleyball players have received all-region recognition from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, including first-team selections Sophia Hackett and Alexis Thompson.

Hackett, a setter, and Thompson, a libero, are among 14 first-team selections in the Great Lakes Region after leading the Flying Dutch to a 25-5 overall record, a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament title and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Thompson averaged 5.79 digs per set for the top average among MIAA players. The senior from Monroe, Michigan (St. Mary Catholic Central HS) also was named an All-MIAA First Team selection.

Hackett averaged a MIAA-best 10.38 assists per set this season. The junior from Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit) was All-MIAA First Team as well.

Middle hitter Courtney Van Houzen claimed all-region honorable mention distinction. The senior from Traverse City, Michigan (West) averaged 2.64 kills, 0.94 digs and 0.83 blocks per set this season.
