Hope College’s Erin Herrmann has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Most Valuable Runner for the 2017 outdoor track & field season.

The senior from Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton-Warrenville South) was honored by the league’s coaches after winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase and helping the 4x400 relay claim a MIAA title last week during the 126th MIAA Field Day at Calvin College.

This is the 10th time a member of the Hope women’s track & field team has been named a MIAA Most Valuable Athlete.

Herrmann joins a group that includes Jane Pearson in 2015 (field performer), Sarah Venlet in 2013 (track performer), Heidi Grooters in 2011 (field performer), Kara Vande Guchte in 2011 (track performer), Nora Kuiper in 2009 (track performer), Marcia Vandersall Bannink in 1993, Mary Busscher in 1999 and 1998, and Paula Smith in 1986.

Herrmann headlines an All-MIAA team that includes three teammates: juniors Rachel Satkiewicz of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Seaholm) and Rachael Webb of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville), and freshman Chelsea Miskelley of Holland, Michigan (Black River).

Satkiewicz earned her spot by winning the 400 meters at the MIAA Field Day. This is her third All-MIAA honor in outdoor track & field.

Webb finished first in the 800 meters at the MIAA Field Day. This is her second All-MIAA honor in outdoor track & field.

Miskelley led off the victorious 4x400 relay.

Herrmann won the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the third consecutive season. This is her third All-MIAA honor in outdoor track & field.
