Coach Greg Mitchell’s Flying Dutchmen averaged 2,319 fans over 18 games at DeVos Fieldhouse
during the 2016-17 season, while coach Brian Morehouse’s Flying Dutch drew 1,132 fans
over 14 home games.
Division III men's basketball games drew 370 fans per game during the 2016-17 season.
University of Wisconsin Eau Claire was second among Division III men’s basketball
teams for home attendance at 1,550, Calvin College was third at 1,338 and followed
by Marietta, Ohio at 1,251 and the College of Wooster, Ohio at 1,150.
Division III women's basketball teams averaged 226 fans per home game during the 2016-17 season.
Puget Sound was runner-up among Division III women’s basketball teams for home attendance at 1,097. Wisconsin-Eau Claire (943) was third and followed by Dubuque, Iowa at 797 and Thomas More, Kentucky at 726 were the next four leaders.
It is the 19th time the Flying Dutchmen have topped the nation in men's basketball attendance.
The Flying Dutchmen also led Division III in home men's basketball attendance in 2015-16, 2014-15, 2013-14, 2012-13, 2011-12, 2010-11, 2009-10, 2008-09, 2007-08, 2006-07, 2005-06, 2004-05, 2003-04, 2002-03, 1998-99, 1995-96, 1990-91 and 1983-84.
The Flying Dutch finished No. 1 in attendance for the 11th time overall.
The Flying Dutch joined teams from 2015-16, 2014-15, 2013-14, 2012-13, 2011-12, 2010-11, 2009-10, 2008-09, 2005-06 and 1989-90.
