Hope College’s Kristen Marsman has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games October 16-21.
The junior defender from Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS) helped the Flying
Dutch post two shutouts in MIAA play last week and clinch an outright MIAA championship.
The Marsman-anchored defense yielded only two shots in a 2-0 victory at Calvin on
Wednesday and one shot in a 5-0 victory against Saint Mary’s on Saturday at Van Andel
Soccer Stadium.
Hope extended its string of shutouts to a season-high six games.
The Flying Dutch have not allowed a goal in the past 567 minutes, 44 seconds of play.
Hope is outscoring MIAA opponents by a 42-2 margin this season.
