
Hope College’s Meg Peel has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Swimmer of the Week for the second consecutive time.
The freshman from Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS) is honored after finishing
runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke at the 12-team University of Chicago Phoenix
Fall Classic last weekend.
Peel clocked a time of 2 minutes, 5.85 seconds in the event that is 15th fastest in
NCAA Division III and tops in the MIAA.
Peel also was part of three relays who finished in the top 10. She led off the 200
medley and 400 medley relays that placed eighth and ninth, respectively and swam the
second leg in the 800 freestyle relay that was 10th.
Peel turned in a time of 59.24 seconds in the 100 backstroke as part of Hope's 400
medley relay and 27.95 seconds in the 50 backstroke in 200 Medley Relay.
