Hope College’s Nancy Benda has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches through April 17-23.
The senior from Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS) is receiving the honor for the second
time this season and the third time in her career.
Benda won a total of four matches between singles and doubles plays to spearhead victories
for the Flying Dutch against Albion on April 18 and Saint Mary’s on April 22. She
only lost five of a possible 29 games.
Nationally ranked Hope clinched a share of its 24th MIAA championship by improving
to 8-0 in league play. The Flying Dutch are now 16-3 on the season.
Benda is Hope’s all-time doubles wins leader with an 85-25 record, including an 18-7
mark this season.
Benda is sixth all-time with the Flying Dutch for singles wins with a 69-32 career
record, including a 20-5 record this season.
