Hope College’s Nancy Benda has been chosen the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Tennis Player of The Week for matches played March 13-19.

The senior from Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS) won singles and doubles matches to help the 23rd-ranked Flying Dutch beat Edgewood, Wisconsin 9-0 on Saturday in Orlando, Florida.

At No. 1 singles, Benda topped Alicia Picard 6-1, 6-0.

At No. 1 doubles, Benda paired with freshman Quincey Glupker of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville) for an 8-1 victory against Picard and Alyssa Carew.

This is the second time in her career and the first time this season Benda has earned the MIAA weekly recognition.
