Athletics
As a member of the MIAA and NCAA Division III associations, Hope College sponsors 22 varsity sports for men and women. The college is home to the 2022 NCAA Division III National Championship women’s basketball team.

The Hope College volleyball team is projected to contend for a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association title this fall.

Coach Becky Schmidt’s Flying Dutch finished second in the 2017 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll with 55 points and one first-place vote. Coaches could not vote for their own teams.

Earlier this month, Hope ranked 15th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason Division III poll.

The Flying Dutch are coming off a 25-6 season in which they qualified for the national tournament for the ninth consecutive time.

Hope opens the 2017 season Friday-Saturday, Sept. 1-2 at the Washington-St. Louis Bear Invitational.

The Flying Dutch’s home opener is Friday, Sept. 8 against Olivet.
