Brown Bag Concert Series to Feature Pianists on April 6
The Hope College Brown Bag Concert Series will present its final event of the spring semester on Friday, April 6, at noon in the lobby of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
This Brown Bag Concert will exclusively feature the piano studio of Andrew Le, associate professor of music. The Hope students who will be performing include Abby Brummel, Daniel Cushman, Jason Deans, Matt DeJongh, Andrew DePree, Kennadi Hawes, Gabby Karel, Jared Lowe, Chisa Matsui, Ellen Messner and Daniel Tague. The program will include works by Claude Debussy, Frederic Chopin, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Franz Schubert, Ludwig van Beethoven, Sergei Prokofieff, Franz Liszt and Robert Schumann.
Founded in 2008 and directed by Le, the Brown Bag series has rapidly become a popular event in the Holland area. Built on the premise that classical music should be accessible by all, the Brown Bag series presents classical art music in a setting that is completely free of pretense: performers are required to wear jeans and talk to the audience about their selections, people of all ages are encouraged to come and go as they please, and everyone is encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch and make as much or as little noise as they wish.
The Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts is located at 221 Columbia Ave., between Ninth and 10th streets.
