Hope Summer Repertory Theatre already has eyes on next season - and they are eager to share the news. The West Michigan theatre company will announce Season 48 after the final performance of “Godspell” on August 8.
The announcement will be made at 10 p.m. following the production. The event is open to the public and is not exclusive to those with a ticket for the closing performance of “Godspell.” For those unable to attend, HSRT will also livestream the announcement on Facebook and Instagram.
It is the first time in 47 years that HSRT has announced its upcoming season a full year in advance. The new season will open in June 2019.
Established at Hope College in 1972, Hope Summer Repertory Theatre is West Michigan’s premiere professional theatre company and produces plays and educational programs of the highest professional standards that address the needs of, and enhance the quality of life for, Hope College and the community. The productions are presented across the summer months in venues including the college’s DeWitt Center main theatre, DeWitt Center studio theatre and The Jack H. Miller Center for the Arts. The company numbers more than 100 annually and features a unique blend of distinguished professionals and young theatre artists from across the United States. Lenny Banovez is completing his first season as HSRT’s artistic director, and Anne Bakker is managing director.
The current, 47th, season opened on June 13 and continues through August 10. This season’s productions have included “The Wiz,’” “The Odd Couple,” “An Iliad,” “Godspell” and “Dragon Pack Snack Attack - The Musical.”
