Knickerbocker Film Series to Feature “Hotel Salvation” on April 9-14
The Hope College Knickerbocker Theatre Winter Film Series will end with “Hotel Salvation” on Monday-Saturday, April 9-14, at 7:30 p.m.
“Hotel Salvation” is about a son, Rajiv, and his father, Daya, who is convinced by a dream that his death is near. Daya decides he wants to take his last breath in the holy city of Varanasi in India and end the cycle of rebirth by attaining salvation. Being a dutiful son, Rajiv is left with no choice but to drop everything and make the journey with his stubborn father, leaving behind his wife and daughter.
Daya and Rajiv check into Mukti Bhawan (Hotel Salvation) in Varanasi, a guesthouse devoted to people who come to die. For the first time in his life, Rajiv must learn to live with and take care of his father. As the days go by, Rajiv struggles to juggle his responsibilities back home, while Daya begins to bloom in the hotel. Rajiv gives his father a chance at salvation, but as family bonds are tested, Rajiv finds himself torn, not knowing what he must do to keep his life together. The film is not rated and is in Hindi with English subtitles.
