Athletics

Hope College’s Charlie Emmert has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Swimmer of the Week for meets through January 6.

The senior from Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic HS) is honored after helping the Flying Dutchmen claim a 122-121 victory against visiting Kalamazoo College on Saturday.

Emmert was part of three first-place performances for Hope.

Emmert won the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.38 seconds.

Emmert clocked a winning 200-yard freestyle performance of 1:47.63.

Emmert swam the second leg of the first-place 400 freestyle relay that sealed the team victory with a time of 3:15.69.
