Hope College’s Hayley Reitsma has been chosen the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Softball Position Player of the Week.

The senior catcher from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian HS) claimed the recognition for the first time in her career.

Reitsma batted .750 over four games last week during sweeps of Albion and Olivet. She totaled nine hits, including four home runs and three triples, nine runs scored and 10 RBI.

Against Albion, Reitsma set a school record with 14 total bases during a 9-0 win in Game 2 of a doubleheader on April 10 at Wolters Stadium. She homered twice and tripled twice for a 4-for-4 day with a career-high six RBI.

Reitsma homered in each game of a doubleheader at Olivet.

She now has a career-high six home runs on the season.
