Jason Beckman Chosen As MIAA Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week
Hope College guard Jason Beckman has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The senior from Shelby, Michigan (Shelby HS) was chosen after averaging 23.0 points,
6.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists over two games last week for the Flying Dutchmen.
This is the first time this season Beckman has received the award and the sixth time
in his college career.
On Friday, Beckman shared team-high scoring honors with 33 points during a 139-129
victory against Greenville University (Illinois) during the North Park University
Tournament in Chicago.
Beckman recorded a triple-double as he collected a school record-tying 12 assists
and a career-high 10 rebounds. It was the highest-scoring game in Flying Dutchmen
history.
On Saturday, Beckman finished with 13 points, three rebounds and one assist during
a 73-55 loss to the Simpson College (Iowa) in the championship game.
