Jason Beckman Chosen MIAA Men’s Basketball Player Of Week
Hope College’s Jason Beckman has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played January 15-21.
The junior guard from Shelby, Michigan (Shelby HS) averaged 31.0 points per game on
51.2 percent shooting from the floor during home victories against Alma and Olivet.
This is the third time this season Beckman has received the award and the fourth time in his career.
On Wednesday, Beckman scored a game-high 41 points during a 99-88 victory against Alma. He recorded the second-highest, single-game effort by a Hope player at DeVos Fieldhouse.
Beckman equaled the DeVos Fieldhouse record with 16 made field goals.
Beckman also surpassed Floyd Brady’s 1968 record for most points against Alma by a Hope player.
On Saturday, Beckman netted 21 points during an 87-84 come-from-behind victory against Olivet that propelled the Flying Dutchmen into a first-place tie in the MIAA standings.
