Hope College’s Josh Gibson has been chosen the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Golfer of the Week.
The senior from Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS) is honored after averaging 71.0
strokes over 72 holes of play last week.
On Saturday, Gibson tied the MIAA record for lowest round at Trine University’s Zollner
Golf Course by carding a 6-under 65. He earned medalist honors while leading the Flying
Dutchmen to a first-place finish at the MIAA Jamboree that extended their lead in
the overall standings after 36 holes.
On Tuesday, Gibson fired a 6-under-par 66 at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville,
Kentucky during the final round of the 54-hole, two-day NCAA Division III Preview.
He finished 10th at 3-over par with a performance that included a second-round 73.
Gibson helped the ninth-ranked Flying Dutchmen place ninth at the 18-team tournament
that included four nationally ranked teams.
This is Gibson’s sixth MIAA Golfer of the Week honor of his career and his second
award this season.
