Madison Geers Chosen MIAA Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week

Hope College’s Madison Geers has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played February 18-24.

The senior from Scottville, Michigan (Mason County Central HS) is receiving the award for the second time this season and her career after helping the Flying Dutch win two overtime games en route to the 14th MIAA Tournament title in team history and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Geers averaged 13.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.5 assists during victories against Calvin and Trine.

During a 68-62 win against Trine on Saturday at DeVos Fieldhouse, Geers scored six of Hope’s eight points in overtime after tying the score at the end of regulation with a buzzer-beating layup off an inbounds pass from freshman guard Lauren Newman of Flushing, Michigan (Flushing). She finished with 13 points.

During a 63-58 semifinal win against Calvin on Friday, Geers scored 13 points, including six in overtime, on two 3-pointers.
