Meg Peel Selected As MIAA Women's Swimmer Of The Week

Hope College’s Meg Peel has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Swimmer of the Week.

The sophomore from Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS) is recognized for her performance during the MIAA Relays at Holland Community Aquatic Center on Friday.

Peel posted two of the fastest times in NCAA Division III in two different events in addition to winning the knockout 50-yard backstroke.

Peel started the meet by swimming the 50 backstroke in a time of 27.23 seconds — a time that is seventh fastest in the nation. Her margin of victory was wider than any of the four knockout champions.

In the opening leg of the 1,500 freestyle, Peel’s time of 5:13.31 currently ranks seventh in Division III and is the fastest time in the MIAA this year by over 10 seconds.

Peel is MIAA Swimmer of the Week for the first time this season and the third time in her career.
