Athletics

Hope College’s Owen Ljung has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

The junior from Sonoma, California (Santa Monica HS) clocked the MIAA’s fourth-fastest time of the season in the 800 meters during the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open on Friday.

Ljung placed eighth in the event that featured competitors from all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA.

At 1 minute, 54.49 seconds, Ljung clocked the fastest 800 time among Division III runners.

This is Ljung’s first MIAA Athlete of the Week award.
