The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has selected Hope College’s Sydney Jones as its NCAA Division III Pitcher of the Week.

The senior right-hander from South Lyon, Michigan (East HS) is honored after hurling a no-hitter and a 3-0 record with one save in four games last week for the Flying Dutch.

Jones did not allow a hit and only two baserunners in a 2-0 victory against Plymouth State on March 22 in Clermont, Florida. She struck out a season-high 13 in her first collegiate no-hitter and the 10th no-hitter in Hope softball history.

Jones posted an ERA of 0.29 in 24 innings of work last week. She earned decisions against Benedictine, Plymouth State, and Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She started against Tufts and returned for the final inning to pick up the save.

Jones struck out 35 batters while only allowing four hits and six walks. Of the four runs she allowed, only one was earned.

Jones was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
