Three-Time MVP Josh Gibson Joined By Three Teammates On All-MIAA First Team

Four Hope College golfers have received All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association First-Team honors for the first time in school history.

Most Valuable Player Josh Gibson is joined by teammates Andrew Goble, Ben Kramer, and Daniel Settecerri, on the six-golfer first team.

The four golfers helped the Flying Dutchmen reclaim the regular-season MIAA championship and claim the third league title on their careers.

Gibson earned MIAA MVP honors for the third consecutive season. The senior from Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS) is the first MIAA golfer to accomplish the feat.

Gibson is the third MIAA golfer to earn MVP honors three times. He follows Hope’s Eric Wohlfield (1998-99, 2001) and Olivet’s Brian Robinette (1990-91, 1993).

This fall, Gibson averaged a league-record 69.0 over 108 holes of MIAA play. He passed the previous mark of 71.2.

Gibson set the MIAA course record at Calvin’s Watermark Country Club with a 68 and tied the MIAA course record at Trine’s Zollner Golf Course. He earned outright or tied for medalist honors in all four league jamboree. He shared medalist honors at the MIAA Championship with his teammate, Settecerri, with a two-round total of 140.

Settecerri claimed his second All-MIAA First Team recognition by carding a 71.8 during MIAA competition. The junior from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Bloomfield Hills) had the MIAA’s third-lowest scoring average.

Goble earned his first All-MIAA First Team honor. The senior from Brighton, Michigan (Brighton) shot 73.0 during MIAA play for the league’s fourth-lowest scoring average.

Kramer made the All-MIAA First Team for the first time. The senior from Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake) recorded the MIAA’s fifth-lowest scoring average at 73.3.
