Three student-athletes from the Hope College outdoor men’s track & field team have earned all-region honors from the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2018 season.
Senior Benjamin Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Prospect HS), junior Justin
Freeman of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa), and sophomore Joshua Izenbart of Glenwood,
Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor) all were recognized in the Great Lakes Region for their
performances.
The top-five individuals in each event from each of eight regions earned all-region
distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region’s top-three relay teams.
Pederson posted qualifying all-region efforts in both of the steeplechase (9 minutes,
11.07 seconds) and the 1,500 meters (3:55.25).
Freeman claimed his all-region award with a time of 10.69 seconds in the 100 meters.
Izenbart is an all-region decathlete with a total of 6,257 points.
