The Hope College women’s lacrosse team hauled in several national academic honors from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association.

The Flying Dutch put five student-athletes on the 2018 IWLCA Zag Sports NCAA Division III Academic Honor Roll.

Hope, coached by Kim Vincent, also was named a Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad.

To be eligible for the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. There were 639 Division III recipients.

Hope’s honorees were seniors Erin Caton of Rochester Hills, Michigan (Pontiac Notre Dame HS) and Amie Hixon of Eagle, Colorado (Vail Christian), and junior Julianna Burlet of Hinsdale, Illinois (Hinsdale Central), Carleigh Eidson of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa), and Sarah O’Mara of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Bloomfield Hills).

The five individual recipients are the most among Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association teams.

To qualify for the IWLCA Honor Squad, women’s lacrosse teams must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year. Hope was one of 339 teams recognized across NCAA Division I, II and III, and NAIA.

This is the fifth consecutive year the Flying Dutch have earned a GPA of 3.4 or higher.
