The Hope College Community Gospel Choir will perform its final concert of the spring at Hope College on Saturday, April 13, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel. The concert theme is “The Word of God for the people of God.”

The public is invited. Admission is free, and a free will offering will be taken.

The tradition of the Hope College Community Gospel Choir dates back to 1996, when the choir was founded by Darnisha Taylor.

“The Word of God for the people of God” will take the listener through Black gospel songs directly or derived from scripture. The program will include songs by artists such as Richard Smallwood, Karen Clark-Sheard, Walt Whitman and the Soul Children of Chicago, Kurt Carr, Shirley Caesar, Kirk Franklin and others. Additionally, songs of hope and joy will fill out the evening.

The tradition of the Hope College Community Gospel Choir dates back to 1996, when the choir was founded by Darnisha Taylor.  The choir includes Hope students, Hope alumni and community members. It is directed by CJ Kingdom-Grier, who also held the position from 2000 to 2005.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is locaed at 277 College Ave., at the corner of College Avenue and 12th Street.
