Hope College defensive tackle Jake Babb has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Football Defensive Player of the Week.
The senior from Caledonia, Michigan (Caledonia HS) is receiving the honor for the
first time in his career.
Babb shared the team-high honors with six tackles during a 51-0 win at nationally ranked Trine University on Saturday in the MIAA opener.
Five of Babb’s tackles were solos. He also recorded half of a sack.
The shutout was Hope’s first in an MIAA opener since the 2010 season.
The Flying Dutchmen also ended Trine’s streak of consecutives games without being shutout at 111.
