Hope College quarterback Mason Opple has been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Offensive Football Player of the Week.

The senior from Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) is receiving the honor for the third time in his career and the first time this season.

Opple threw a career-high five touchdown passes in 2 ½ quarters during an 80-6 Community Day victory against Defiance College (Ohio) on Saturday at Smith Stadium.

Opple completed 10-of-13 passes for 263 yards, including touchdown strikes of 22, 56, 41, 61 and 19 yards. 

Opple also rushed four times for 21 yards in the Flying Dutchmen’s highest-scoring game.
