For a league-record 37th time, Hope College is the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Commissioner’s Cup winner.

Propelled by league championships in seven team sports, Hope College topped the all-sports standings for the 2018-19 school year with 130 points. Calvin College (124) finished runner-up, while Trine University (116.5) was third.

The MIAA Commissioner's Cup is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league's 23 sports; each school counts its top eight finishes by gender.  Hope College has 22 more MIAA Commissioner’s Cups than any other member school.

Hope College topped all MIAA schools in women’s sports with 69 points — 10 more than any other school in the league.

The Flying Dutch earned league titles in cross country and soccer in the fall, swimming & diving in the winter, and tennis and outdoor track & field in the spring.

Hope College also was runner-up in women’s golf and volleyball and women’s basketball and indoor track & field. The Flying Dutch placed third in softball and fourth in women’s lacrosse.

In men’s sports, Hope College totaled a third-place score of 61 points after winning MIAA championships in golf in the fall and lacrosse in the spring.

The Flying Dutchmen were runner-up in football, baseball and men’s tennis.They came in third place in basketball (tie) and outdoor track & field, and fourth place in cross country, soccer, indoor track & field, and swimming & diving.

Hope College last won the MIAA Commissioner’s Cup during the 2013-14 school year.

The 1934-35 academic year marked the first year the MIAA awarded a trophy for the all-sport champion for its member schools. From its inception through the 1997-98 academic year, the honor was issued as the All-Sports Award. Beginning in 1998-99, the award was renamed the Commissioner’s Cup and separate Men’s and Women’s All-Sports awards were established.
