Hope College’s Shay Pinhey has been selected to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Softball Team, chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America,  in NCAA Division III.

The senior from Ann Arbor, Michigan (Pioneer HS) is the designated player honoree in District 6 that includes nominees from Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. After voting concludes, first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.

Pinhey graduated from Hope this month. She majored in engineering and minored in mathematics. Her concentration is biomedical/biomechanical engineering. Her GPA was 3.62 after the fall semester.

On the field, Pinhey batted leadoff this season and hit .362 this season. She finished with 34 runs scored and 29 runs batted in. She made the All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association First Team.

Pinhey concluded her Hope career with 193 hits — fourth most all-time in team history — and 98 runs batted in — ninth-most all-time among Flying Dutch players.

The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
