Multiple area choirs will perform during a Gospel Choir Fest concert at Hope College on Friday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel. The event will feature Africa Worship, a Hope student singing group; CJ Grier & Dynamic Praise; and The Hope College Community Gospel Choir, as well as African American poetry.

The public is invited.  Admission is free, and a free will offering will be taken.

The tradition of Hope College Gospel Fest dates back to 1996, when it was founded by Darnisha Taylor.  The event is cosponsored by the college’s Center for Diversity and Inclusion and Campus Ministries program.

The Hope College Community Gospel Choir includes Hope students, Hope alumni and community members.  It is directed by CJ Kingdom-Grier, who also held the position from 2000 to 2005.

Gospel Fest is scheduled in conjunction with national Black History Month, which runs Feb. 1-29.

Audience members who need assistance to fully enjoy any event at Hope are encouraged to contact the college’s Events and Conferences Office by emailing events@hope.edu or calling 616-395-7222 on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located at 277 College Ave., at the corner of College Avenue and 12thStreet.
