D3Hoops Honors for Four from Women’s Basketball, Two for Men’s Basketball

Five Hope College basketball student-athletes have been voted to the 2021-22 D3hoops.com all-region teams.

In women’s basketball, seniors Kenedy Schoonveld and Olivia Voskuil are among five first-team selections; senior Sydney Muller is one of six third-team honorees. Schoonveld also was chosen as the Region 7 Player of the Year.

Also, head coach Brian Morehouse was picked as the Region 7 Co-Coach of the Year along with Trine University’s Andy Rang.

In men’s basketball, junior Evan Thomas made the five-player first team for Region 7. Junior Clayton Dykhouse is among five second-team honorees.

A total of 746 student-athletes nationwide were nominated by sports information directors. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.

All-region selections are eligible for D3hoops All-America consideration.

Schoonveld (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian HS) is a two-time D3hoops All-American and a two-time D3hoops Regional Player of the Year.

Voskuil (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) is a three-time D3hoops all-region honoree and four-time MIAA Defensive Player of the Year.

Muller (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) is a first-time D3hoops all-region selection.

All three helped the Flying Dutch reach the national semifinals for the fourth time in team history this week in Pittsburgh.

Thomas (Okemos, Michigan / Okemos) is a first-time D3hoops all-region honoree.

Dykhouse earned all-region honors for the first time as well.
