Career Assessments

We offer three assessments to help you better understand your strengths, preferences and interests.

To take these assessments, please email assessments@hope.edu.

Taking the StrengthsQuest assessment (SQ) will offer insight into your top five personal strengths. Hope College uses SQ in many places throughout campus, from career services to residence life. Building an understanding of your top five strengths can assist in your overall academic achievement and your leadership development, and can impact your career choices.

The Strong Interest Inventory (SII) objectively measures your professional and personal interests. Completing the SII and thoroughly reviewing the results with a career professional can help identify relevant majors and occupations that you may not have considered before.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) can help you identify, understand and apply your personal preferences to your career decisions. MBTI measures how you take in information, where you focus your attention, how you make decisions and how you adapt to situations.

Each assessment is completed online, and you will be given access through the Boerigter Center. Most students will have taken the CliftonStrengths prior to their freshman year or through their FYS class. It is best if you make an appointment through Handshake to meet with a staff member to determine which assessment(s) would be a good fit for you. Email assessments@hope.edu with any questions.

If you have already taken one or more assessments we recommend making an appointment with a staff member to be coached about your results. This will help you make the most of the information as you apply it to major and career discernment, vocation and calling.
