Hope to Honor 10 Young Alumni with “10 Under 10 Awards” on Oct. 22

Hope College will honor 10 young alumni with its annual “10 Under 10 Awards” on Friday, Oct. 22, during the college’s “One Big Weekend: Homecoming and Family Weekend” celebration.

They will be honored during a reception on Friday, Oct. 22, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at CityVū Events on the fifth floor of CityFlatsHotel.  They will also participate in a panel discussion earlier in the day on Friday, Oct. 22, at 3 p.m. in Winants Auditorium of Graves Hall, during which they will share perspective based on their educational and professional journeys.

The public is invited to both events.  Admission is free.

The alumni being honored are: Natalie Brown ’17, writer and speaker; Palmer D’Orazio ’16, UX designer and researcher; Jim DelBene ’12, scientific support analyst; Divya Dhaliwal ’14, marketing and strategy partner, growth specialist; Larissa Fall ’14, operations coordinator for the Grand Rapids Symphony; Anysie Ishimwe ’16, Rwanda country manager, Genesis Energy Holdings; Emery Max ’12, research and development, partner at Paragon Fitwear; Karly M. Murphy ’11 Ph.D., postdoctoral fellow at Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center; Brandon Siakel ’11, strength and conditioning coach for the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee; and Molly Greenfield ’15 Skawski, foster care program supervisor, Children’s Home & Aid.

The “10 Under 10 Awards” honor emerging leaders who are making significant contributions by living out their callings; engaged in the local and global community through professional and/or volunteer involvement; and use their education to think about important issues with wisdom and clarity, communicate effectively to bridge boundaries that divide human communities and act as agents of hope living faithfully into their vocations.  Designed for alumni who are within 10 years of graduation, they are presented by the Hope College Alumni Association.

The annual awards which debuted in the fall of 2018, succeeded the Hope College Alumni Association’s Young Alumni Award program that ran from 2007 through 2017.  Recipients are chosen by a committee of Alumni Board members, faculty and staff from among nominations made by members of the extended Hope community.  More information about the 10 Under 10 Awards program and a nomination form are available at hope.edu/alumni/awards

Due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, Hope is currently requiring that masks be worn by all individuals while indoors on campus unless in their living space or alone in their work space.

CityFlatsHotel is located at 61 E. Seventh St., at the corner of Seventh Street and College Avenue.  Graves Hall is located at 263 College Ave., between 10th and 12th streets.
