The voice division of the department of music at Hope College will present a recital by soprano Tracey Gorman on Thursday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

With a voice the "Boston Globe" calls "extraordinary in range, tonal quality, musicianship, and dramatic effect," Gorman has gained a reputation for excellence in opera, recital, and concert.

She has performed with the Minnesota Opera, the Chicago Chamber Musicians, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Milwaukee Bel Canto Chorus, among others. In addition, she has taken many prizes in competition, including the Minnesota NATSAA First Place Award in 2002, and the coveted Schuessler Prize at the University of Minnesota. In January of 2003, Gorman was named the winner and "audience choice" of the Austin Lyric Opera Young Artist Competition in Austin, Texas. She was also a regional finalist in the 2002-2003 Metropolitan Opera Auditions.

Gorman will be performing pieces from six composers: Henry Purcell, W. A. Mozart, Gioacchino Rossini, Georges Bizet, Richard Strauss, and Libby Larsen. She will also be holding two master classes for Hope College music students.

Dimnent Memorial Chapel is located on College Avenue at 12th Street.
