All-conference honors have been announced in swimming and diving by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) coaches. The honor teams include twelve Hope athletes.
Senior Lisa Smith of Dearborn (Dearborn HS) is being honored a fourth consecutive year. She becomes the 15th Hope female swimmer to achieve All-MIAA distinction four years in-a-row.
Hope's All-MIAA honorees include five freshmen -- Phil Heyboer of Zeeland (Holland Christian HS); Ryan Nelis of Holland (West Ottawa HS); Claire Piester of Columbia, Mo. (Hickman HS); Matt Rose of Grandville, Mich. (Grandville HS) and Christina Vogelzang of Holland (Holland Christian HS).
Senior Sarah Diekevers of Jenison (Jenison HS) received all-MIAA honorees a third time. Honored for a second year were sophomore Brittaney Reest of Holland (West Ottawa HS); junior Charles VanderBroek and senior Kyle Waterstone, both from Holland (Holland HS).
Other honorees include sophomore Laura Ansilio of Western Springs, Ill. (Lyons Township HS), and senior Jennifer Carr of Novi (Northville HS).
