The department of biology at Hope College is featuring an orchid show in the greenhouse of the A. Paul Schaap Science Center from Friday, May 2, through Friday, May 23.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

Approximately 70 blooming tropical orchids will be featured, ranging from some that were cultivated at Hope years ago by Dr. Paul Van Faasen, professor emeritus of biology, who retired in 1997, to others contributed specifically for the show by alumnus Landis Zylman of Holland and friends of the college. Also on display will be a special exhibit of cacti and other succulents provided by alumni Mike and Mae Van Ark of Holland.

The greenhouse is located on the second floor of the A. Paul Schaap Science Center, and is accessible from near the southwest corner of the original Peale Science Center. The Science Center is located at 35 E. 12th St., at the corner of College Avenue and 12th Street.

The show will be open from 8 a.m. to dusk daily. Visitors are invited to bring their cameras.
