Several Hope College residence halls will be open to children trick-or-treating on Halloween during the college's "Safe Halloween" event.

A total of eight residence halls will be open to young trick-or-treaters on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Children 12 and under from the community are invited to visit and admission is free, although they are asked to wear a costume and must be accompanied by an adult.

To participate, children must obtain a special Hope identifier at an information tent during the event's hours on the lawn in front of the DeWitt Center on Columbia Avenue at 12th Street.  If there is inclement weather, the location will be changed to inside the DeWitt Center on the first-floor lounge.  In addition, the Dance Marathon student organization will be selling cider and hot chocolate at the tent to help raise funds for Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.
