Hope College's Opera Workshop will present portions of Kurt Weill's "Street Scene" on Thursday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m. in Wichers Auditorium of Nykerk Hall of Music.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

Twenty students will perform eight scenes from the opera, accompanied on the piano by Linda Strouf and Sally VanderPloeg. Musical direction is by Linda Dykstra, and scene direction by John Tammi.

The Opera Workshop emphasizes beginning-level training for voice students in lyric acting. Since the performance will be held in Wichers, costumes and sets are minimal. The full opera with orchestral accompaniment will be performed in the DeWitt Center main theatre in November.

Nykerk Hall of Music is located in the central Hope campus at the former 127 E. 12th St. between College and Columbia avenues.
