Lorraine “Punkin” Shananaquet will present “Tribal Legacy: Understanding Community Through the Lens of Native American Culture” on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 4 p.m. as the annual Native American Heritage Lecture at Hope College in the Fried-Hemenway Auditorium of the Martha Miller Center for Global Communication.

The public is invited.  Admission is free.

Shananaquet is a community health representative and fitness coordinator for the Gun Lake Band of Pottawatomi.  Her presentation will focus on “Debwe’tadizin – ‘Believe in Yourself’: Conquering historical myths and misconceptions by healing with our own belief in self, our traditions and our medicines.”

The address is sponsored by the college’s Center for Diversity and Inclusion, and is being presented in conjunction with national Native American Heritage Month.

The Martha Miller Center for Global Communication is located at 257 Columbia Ave., at the corner of Columbia Avenue and 10th Street.
