The Hope College Ballet Club will present its rendition of the childhood favorite Peter Pan on Saturday and Sunday, April 8 and 9, with “Second Star to the Right: A Ballet Based on Peter Pan.”

The performances are on Saturday, April 8, at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 9, at 2:30 p.m. Both performances will be at the Dow Center, room 207.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

The show is completely student directed and student choreographed, under the guidance of senior Elise Riddell, junior Emily Mejicano-Gormley and sophomore Jenny Lussenhop. There are nine choreographers and a cast of 19 Hope students.

The Hope College Ballet Club is a student organization dedicated to exploring the spirit of ballet, increasing its members’ technical proficiency in classical ballet, and considering the role that ballet plays in today’s dance world through experiencing contemporary and original works rooted in ballet.

Part of Ballet Club’s mission is to make the dance more accessible to the general public by striving to move past the concept of traditional ballet. By using the white box theater space in the Dow Center, the club hopes to create an intimate environment in which the audience can appreciate ballet as an art.

The Dow Center is located at 168 E. 13th St., on the corner of 13th Street and Columbia Avenue.
