The H2 Dance Company of Hope College will present its annual concert on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27 and 28, and Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3 and 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Knickerbocker Theatre in downtown Holland.

H2 Dance Company consists of Hope College students and is one of the college’s premier dance companies. H2 Dance performs a wide assortment of styles by a variety of choreographers.

The theme for this year’s concert is “All about a Table,” with the program centered around the idea of what happens around a table.  Instead of the usual breaks between pieces, short films that also address the theme will be shown.

Hope faculty members Matthew Farmer, Crystal Frazier and Steven Iannacone have each choreographed a work for the concert.  Farmer’s piece, “Les Joueurs,” is a comedy speaking to the current political state of the U.S. and a direct reference to Kurt Jooss’ famous work “The Green Table.” Frazier’s piece is “The Nest,” and deals with the idea of birds and how tables can be both a nesting place and a cage. Iannacone’s piece includes “Sure la table,” which is dedicated to his mother and examines the family-table activities of women during the 1950s and 1960s.

Tickets are $10 for regular admission, $7 for senior citizens and Hope faculty and staff, $5 for children age 13 to 18, and free for Hope students and children 12 and under.

Tickets are available at the ticket office in the Events and Conferences Office located downtown in the Anderson-Werkman Financial Center (100 E. Eighth St.). The office is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be called at (616) 395-7890. Tickets are also available online at
