The Department of Music at Hope College will present a Wind Chamber Concert on Monday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 pm in the John and Dede Howard Recital Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.

The public is invited.  Admission is free.

The event will feature a woodwind quintet, saxophone quartet, brass quintet and the flute ensembles.

The concert will be directed by Dr. Robert “Gabe” Southard, assistant professor of music.  Southard conducts the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, teaches flute and leads the instrumental division of the department’s music-education program. He completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Conducting at Michigan State University, where he worked with Professor John Whitwell.  Prior to his residence at MSU, he served as Wind Symphony conductor and Flute Studio teacher at the University of Michigan-Flint, where he also taught Orchestration, Music Appreciation and Advanced Conducting.

The Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts is located at 221 Columbia Ave., between Ninth and 10th streets.
